Ceron will be playing for Southern Nazeren in the fall, his favorite school.
Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe High School center fielder Cobi Ceron signed with his favorite college team, Southern Nazerene University.

If you play center field, especially in college, you need two things — wheels and reckless abandonment.  There is a lot of turf to cover, and balls are sprayed at you in every direction.  So diving, lunging, jumping and chasing all come with the territory. If you are not willing to give up your body for an out or to stop a runner from advancing, you are in the wrong position.

Cobi Ceron, 2016 National Scouting Report baseball prospect, knows the risks and has no qualms about flying around like Superman saving the day. The 6-foot-2 senior from Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe High School can track down almost anything hit his way.

“Cobi is a speedy outfielder as his 4.09 home-to-first and his 11.50 home-to-third times would indicate,” NSR Oklahoma Area Director Tom Luce wrote in his scouting report. “He has great range in the outfield, runs to spots and attacks the ball well. He has a strong, accurate arm with a quick release and 90-plus mph velocity. Cobi’s fast-twitch muscles are through the roof. Mechanically, he’s very sound.”

Ceron’s talents caught the attention of the Southern Nazerene (Okla.) University coaching staff last year.  He signed a National Letter of Intent with the NCAA Division II school during the early signing period in November.

Realizing his dream of playing for his favorite college team was not lost on Ceron.

“I want nothing more in my life at this moment than to continue challenging myself both athletically and academically by going to college to play baseball,” said Ceron, who sports a 3.5 GPA. “I believe I have gained the skills I need by living and playing in the most competitive states, including California, Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma. And I also believe there is no greater sense of pride than being able to don your school’s uniform and play for your school and fellow classmates.”
