Birmingham, Ala — The city of Chengdu China hosted the 2018 Forbes China Innovation Summit. Forbes invited and recognized the most innovative companies from around the world. National Scouting Report President Rusty Rigney was asked to be a V.I.P. speaker and panelist during the sports innovation session.

Jim Yue of Nike Sports Camps China moderated the sports innovation panel. Panel participants included Echo Li of Lagardère China, Rocky Li of Alisports, the Founder of Yioks soccer coaching system, and Rusty Rigney, President, and CEO of NSR. NSR helps athletes get the opportunity to play college athletics in the United States.

Tim Wilkison, NSR’s Director of International Expansion, accompanied Rigney on the trip to China.

Forbes China Editor Russell Flannery interviewing NSR’s President, Rusty Rigney, and NSR’s Director of Expansion, Tim Wilkison.

“We had a great time,” says Rigney. “ We got to meet some of our partners in person for the first time. Just sitting and listening to some of these company leaders was very enjoyable. There’s a reason they are some of the best companies in the world.”

When asked if he had a favorite speaker Rigney replied, “Tom Davis, the Chief Marketing Officer for Forbes. He spoke on marketing in 2018 and beyond, and how the customer is more and more in control. I related so much of what he said to our company, NSR.”

While on the panel, Rigney discussed college recruiting and how technology has evolved and changed the process. Three years ago, NSR developed a software suite, NSR Evolution, to revolutionalize how NSR helps athletes and coaches through the recruiting process.

“Now we can give the best service possible,” says Rigney. “The college coaches have all the tools they need to recruit the best fit for their program. The athletes have more options than ever before. Our 150 plus scouts across the U.S. have what they need to promote the athletes they work with effectively. Additionally, our NSR administration has greater efficiency than ever before.”

Aqua Bloom Sports Group, ABSG, is a partner and will be assisting in NSR’s growth throughout China. “We have found great partners from around the world. We have moved into 14 additional countries over the last three years. With a partner like ABSG, and market size as big as China, well, its exciting times at NSR,” says Tim Wilkison.

College recruiting is a difficult journey. It’s even more frustrating for athletes who have to deal with language barriers and time differences. A growing number of athletes from around the world can utilize NSR and its network of scouts to help them have the opportunity to live out their dream of playing college athletics in the United States.
