Carter Odenweller

We are pleased to present Carter Odenweller as our Male Athlete of the Day.  This 6’1″, 185-pound offensive weapon from Northland Christian School in Houston has collected a long list of post-season honors since his sophomore year.  Posting a 3.95  GPA, Carter is also a top notch student with intentions of majoring in Business.  David Nelson is his high school coach and offers this description of this exceptional football player: “Carter is a Swiss Army Knife…He can do it all. His best position is Defensive Back but because of his ability to catch and run the ball, he mostly plays offense for the betterment of the team, he receives All State honors. He was still voted to 1st Team All-District Defensive Back by the coaches in our district based on a handful of plays in which he still had multiple interceptions. Additionally he is also a fantastic punt returner. He is a team captain, never complains and competes like a champion every day.”  In his essay to college coaches, Carter says this, ” I want to play and compete on a team where I can make an impact on the field wherever my coach and team need me. Playing in a state closer to home would be nice, but I am open to my options. Over the last year I have visited many college campuses to get a feel for what I like and don’t like. I found that urban/suburban universities feel most comfortable and size didn’t matter. I am leaning towards a business degree of some kind along with technology background. I am blessed that my parents will be able to help with college expenses. I only see the opportunity for a scholarship as a reward for my hard work and dedication. It is also a necessity if I will be playing in a non-state school or outside of the state of Texas.”
