Anna Chickering has traveled nationwide for six years to compete in junior golf events.
Anna Chickering has traveled the U.S. for six years competing in golf tournaments.

If a high school golfer expects to get noticed in today’s recruiting world, he or she needs to compete in tournaments. Then, they must score well. Annika Chickering does both.

A senior at Del Norte (Calif.) High School, Annika has been a road warrior the past six years competing and improving.  The long list of competitive tournaments that the National Scouting Report prospect has entered clearly demonstrates her dedication and desire to advance to the college level.

When her family lived on the East Coast, Annika played on junior tours such as the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT), the Hurricane Tour (HJGT), and the Peggy Kirk Bell Tour (PKBGT).  When they moved to San Diego in the summer of 2010, she began playing competitively on junior tours such as the American Junior Golf Association Tour (AJGA), Toyota Tour Cup Series of the Southern California, the PGA Junior Tour (SCPGAJRTOUR), the San Diego Junior Golf Tour (SDJGA) and the Future Champions Golf Tour (FCG).

All of that hard work and tour participation has been to achieve her goal of playing in college.

“I know that I need to get a college education to be able to have options for my career and I hope to be able to continue playing golf at a competitive program while doing so. I would be honored to be considered for a position on your golf team,” Annika wrote in her NSR personal message to college coaches.

Catching the attention of those college coaches should be easy.  Her impressive golf resume is a huge plus.  Her 2015 summer tournament results shows just how competitive and accomplished she is:

  • Future Champions SD Junior Amateur, Sycuan Resort:  79, 76 (T19 out of 69)
  • SDJGA Junior World Qualifier, Twin Oaks:  74 (T4 out of 29)
  • SDJGA Junior World Qualifier, Balboa Park:  77, 77 (T4 of 22)
  • SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup, Twin Oaks:  73, 73, 75 (7 of 26)
  • SCPGA Junior World Qualifier, Los Serranos:  74 (7 of 45)
  • SDJGA Junior World Qualifier, Twin Oaks:  70, 72 (1 of 18)
  • FCG International:  75, 79, 73 (13 of 75)
  • IMG Junior Worlds:  77, 72, 77, 81 (39 of 142)
  • AJGA Lockton Kansas City Junior:  79, 71, 78 (T10 of 24)
Chickering is as impressive in school. She carries a 3.32 GPA.
Annika is equally impressive off the links, carrying a 3.32 GPA.

Annika also carries a big stick in the classroom with a 3.0-plus GPA.  She believes that working on her grades, like her golf game, is essential.

“My schoolwork is very important to me and I strive to get the best grades that I can,” she said. “Currently I have a 3.32 grade point average and this is a source of pride for me because I have worked very hard to keep up my grades.”

Although golf can be a mentally tough game, Annika thinks the team environment fits her to a (pardon the pun) tee.

“Being able to compete on my high school golf team the past three years has been an amazing experience,” she said. “Golf is an individual sport, but having teammates has brought out the best of my abilities. I am an outgoing person and really thrive in a team atmosphere and also think that I am a very good teammate.  I’ve been able to meet some wonderful girls and make new friends and I can’t wait to continue this in college.”
