Get Scouted Scouting Careers“Select company” carries special meaning for National Scouting Report senior baseball prospect Nathan James.
The 6-foot-five-inch, 215-pound corner and pitcher from Newsome High School in Lithia, Florida, was one of only 50 high school students across the globe chosen to attend the Four Star Leadership Program this past summer. That selection truly put James in select company.
Besides Nathan’s outstanding baseball acumen, the senior boasts a 5.7 GPA (you read that correctly) and has posted a very impressive 1350 on the new SAT. He plans to pursue a degree in Engineering or Math.
Last spring, James tore up league pitching. He hit .632 with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs in 16 games. In his last fall tournament, his BA was .667 with 5 RBIs for the Hit Factory out of Tampa, Florida.
Nathan’s NSR scout, Kris Dunn, believes that Nathan has nothing but upside potential.
“Adversity is something Nathan has had to cope with and overcome. He has emerged as a great individual who would be a credit to any college program. Athletically and academically, he is ready to go to the next level,” Dunn confirmed.
But a good stick and great grades are not all that make Nathan an excellent college prospect. He is also heavily involved in volunteer work in his community.
“I lead by example on and off the field and make my presence known. Off the field you will find me helping in my community whether I’m tutoring students/helping teachers at the local middle school or volunteering with numerous organizations, including the Zach Tucker Giving Hope Through Faith Foundation (provides support to families with children diagnosed with cancer). I love to give back to my community and its veterans at James A. Haley VA Center,” James said.
