Reese Weber is a complete softball talent headed to Tennessee State University.
Missouri softball standout Reese Weber will continue her academic and athletic careers at NCAA Division I Tennessee State University.

Reese Weber is one of hundreds of successful 2016 NSR prospects.

Yet, her academic and athletic accomplishments make her truly special.

While many of her peers who did not work with NSR have seen their aspirations evaporate, Weber’s dream of playing college athletics has come true. This fall she will enroll at Tennessee State University in Nashville and begin her journey as a collegiate softball player and pursue a degree in sports medicine.

A natural shortstop, the Steelville (Mo.) High School  star may head to third base at TSU, where power hitters like her tend to land.

National Scouting Report scout Jason Marcum, who discovered Weber, says the recently graduated senior has the tools to thrive at the NCAA Division I level.

“A smooth, fearless defender, Reese takes great angles to the ball,” Marcum wrote in his NSR scouting report. “She has good footwork around the bag, has quick hands and a big arm. A true power hitter to all fields offensively, Reese hits for a high average as well.  She does not get the ball thrown by her!  She is a natural 3-4 hitter.”

Few who know Weber doubt that she will continue her stellar job of successfully balancing highly competitive athletics with exceptional academic results. She carries a 3.9 GPA and is ranked fourth in her senior class.

“My confidence as a player comes from the hours I spend each week working on developing my individual softball skills,” Weber wrote in her personal message to college coaches. “Like softball, I take the same approach to my academic life. Not only do I work hard in the classroom, but I feel it is important to study and prepare on my own. In every part on my life, I try to continually improve, always looking for better scores and results, not just to compete with others but to compete with the image I have of myself.”

Marcum has nothing but high praise for Weber.

“I do not say this lightly: Reese is an elite talent,” he wrote. “She is easily coached and she trains non-stop to improve.  A true student of the game, this young woman is a genuine difference-maker.”
