Confident and committed are powerful words to describe a high school athlete.

Those adjectives should not be taken lightly, especially when talking to college coaches. See, there is confidence and then there is confidence.  There is commitment and then there is commitment.

Sean Nasseth can be described as both.

A 2017 National Scouting Report soccer prospect from Rock Canyon High School in Highland Ranch, Colo., Nesseth is one of the premier midfielders in the state. NSR scout Brandy Bloom can’t say enough about his impact on his high school and club teams.

“Sean is known to be a leader with the ability to raise the level of play for any team he is on,” Bloom wrote in her NSR scouting report. “He is known for his integrity and his positive influence on his teammates. Sean has great field vision and has a never-quit attitude that always lands him on winning teams. It’s an honor to know such a great student-athlete and I am excited to see all he will accomplish in his life on and off the soccer field.”

Real Colorado Soccer Club head coach and former professional soccer player, Chris Martinez, is one of Nasseth’s biggest fans.

“It has been my pleasure to work with Sean and see him mature over the last few years,” Martinez said. “As his teacher, I witnessed Sean’s dependability and saw him work well with his peers. As his coach, I saw his role on the team develop over the last two years. Sean was a good young player as a sophomore, who was a steady contributor on a very senior-heavy team. However, as a junior, Sean was a team leader and role model for our younger players.”

Martinez said Nasseth’s strong work ethic sets him apart.

“Sean is very skillful, but it was his work ethic and fitness that really earned the respect from his peers and coaches,” Martinez said. “I believe athleticism and talent to be pretty common in our community, but student-athletes who are committed to becoming a good leader are in short supply. Sean is a thoughtful young man and teammate that shows empathy for those around him.”

Nasseth understands the importance of hard work and commitment.

“There’s nothing that I am more passionate about than soccer,” he wrote in his personal message to college coaches. “When not sleeping, eating, or doing homework, you’ll find me in the gym; at the pitch getting touches; taking shots on goal, or watching soccer on television. …

“I am determined to win and I’m a fierce competitor. My relentless commitment to improve and to reach my maximum potential has compelled me to seek private training off-season with coaches from the highest levels of my Real Colorado club team. I am confident that my tireless work ethic and coachability will enable me to add value to your team, and I look forward to having the opportunity to demonstrate that to you.”
