Kayla brings a well-rounded game and leadership to the hardwood.
Junior point guard Kayla Joyce brings a well-rounded game and leadership to the court.

High school point guards aren’t expected to do it all, but they often do. They take care of the ball. Communicate with teammates. Sink open shots. Pass to open players. Drive and dish. And get back on defense to disrupt fast breaks.

National Scouting Report 2017 basketball prospect Kayla Joyce, from Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, Calif., does all of those things on the court. A 5-foot-6 point guard, she averages 9 points, 3.5  assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal per game.

“Kayla’s strength is making those around her better,” NSR scout Ron Hays said in his scouting report. “She plays plays both ends of the court and leads those around her with commitment, dedication and positive attitude.”

Joyce is also a standout in the classroom, carrying a 3.89 GPA. She would like to pursue medicine in college with an eye on Forensic Science.

“My dream is to play college basketball,”  Joyce wrote in her personal message to college coaches. “I am very dedicated to this journey. I am an honor student and take school very seriously. I am a team leader on and off the court. I have always pushed myself to be the best I can be.

“Personal qualities that will help me achieve my goals are my commitment to my coach and my teammates. I am fiercely competitive on and off the court. I will always bring confidence to my team.  I feel I would be a positive addition to your team.”
