Your Starting Point is When You Set Your Sights on the Finish Line

From the moment you know in your heart that wanting to participate in college athletics is a serious goal, recruiting for you starts.  It’s in the moment that everything you do in your sport takes added significance.  You are standing on the starting line of a journey which will influence the rest of your life. 

Landing a scholarship offer is within your grasp, that is, if you home in on that goal and proceed methodically toward achieving it.  No one else can do it for you.  No one else is in charge.  It is your ability, work ethic and determination which will deliver you to the doorstep of your dream.  With your full buy-in, miraculous things can happen.  Untold and unexpected opportunities will present themselves. 

You have entered a competition against every athlete in your age in your sport whose objective is to get the scholarship you want.  Their futures are also at stake.  Some will drop off the wayside because the trek requires more attention, focus and dedication than they can muster.  Others will offer a half-hearted attempt.  Still others will dig deep and do the things necessary to improve, grow and accomplish the little goals each day which will catapult them into contention for scholarship consideration. 

The question is obvious:  which of these groups will you fall into.  Will you quit at the first sign of adversity?  Will you give an inconsistent effort?  Or, will you put all your devotion toward being the very best student, athlete and person possible? 

Every day is crucial.  Never forget that.  Your daily decisions about studying, working out, who you choose to associate with, and how you treat those around you will all have impact on whether or not you will reach your ultimate goal.  It’s on you.  Start today toward achieving what many dream of but few accomplish.  It’s there for you if you have the will to see it through to the finish line.
