NSR Softball Prospect Emmy Guthrie

A huge congrats from all of us at National Scouting Report to Emmy Guthrie, a 2021 pitcher prospect from Wilson, Oklahoma, who is committed to the University of Oklahoma to play softball! Emmy has been committed to OU since September of 2017, prior to the NCAA Division 1 rule changes. Emmy recently climbed the national ranks again, earning her spot as the #51 overall “Extra Elite Top 100 prospects of the 2021 Class” via Extra Inning Softball! See the full article here.

The Pitcher You Don’t Want To Face

Emmy is no stranger to publicity, notoriety, and national rankings… and has been a well-known name as the pitcher you don’t want to face for years. An extremely athletic and also power-hitting pitcher, Emmy has set records, won championships, and continued to set the bar high with her ability to get hitters to “swing and miss”, consistently. Just to name a few:

  • #51 in ExtraInning 2021 Extra Elite 100
  • #53 in FloSoftball 2021 Hot 100
  • #65 in FastPitch News 2021 Top Prospect Report
  • 2019-2020 All-Ardmoreite Fast Pitch Softball Team

  • 2017 4A State Runner Up
  • 2017 4A All-Region Team
  • 2017 Lake Country County Conference Pitcher of the Year
  • 2017 District Pitcher of the Year

A Scout’s Perspective

As her NSR scout, Coach Robby Wilson states: “I found Emmy when she was in the 8th grade and I already knew, she was going to be the kid that was unassuming but come in and dominate any showcase or any camp, all in a day’s work. The kid is humble as can be and has a work ethic like very few I’ve witnessed. Just had her head on straight from day one. Guthrie was one of the most underrated, vertical movement spinners in the 2021 class. She doesn’t aim to blow it by you in the low 60’s, but spins the heck out of it and mixes her speeds on a horizontal plane and then going upstairs with her riseball for the swing and miss. She led her High School (Lone Grove) to a 2nd place finish at state with 266 strikeouts in only 163 innings pitched. Freshman year maintained a 1.10 ERA and earned District Pitcher of the Year and LCC Pitcher of the year. Not to mention the kid can swing it, hitting .350 against stiff competition! I couldn’t be more ecstatic for Emmy and her parents, Jamie and Gary. When you meet Emmy and see her magnetic personality, huge smile, and then witness her work ethic firsthand, you can see where she got it from once you meet her parents. They’ve been phenomenal to work with and continue to be part of my #NSRfamily.”

Another Big Achievement

So from all of us at National Scouting Report and from all of our readers and followers, we want to congratulate and acknowledge you, Emmy on another big achievement! And we all look forward to continuing to watching you grow and Boomer Sooner!
