Marks is an exceptional athlete with the grades and character to match.
Sydney Marks posted one of the nation’s highest scores in the AVCA Volleyball Performance Index.

Stand two steps from a basketball goal and look up. Drive as hard as you can through those two steps and jump as high as you can trying to touch the rim.

National Scouting Report volleyball prospect Sydney Marks came within an inch. That’s an “approach touch” of 9 feet 11 in volleyball circles.

Marks, a 6-0 junior middle blocker, is an All-Conference performer at Saint Mary’s High School in Lodi, Calif. What’s more, she scored 577.4 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Volleyball Performance Index, ranking 18th in the nation among 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 prospects. On top of that, she is in the top 5 percent of her class with a 3.97 grade-point average.

No wonder college coaches are drooling.

NSR scout Rebecca Wood, who discovered Marks, could hardly believe her eyes.

“Sydney works to own the net against every opponent she faces,” Wood wrote in her NSR scouting report. “Her lateral movement left and right will be a huge asset to any team. She has quick transitions and is up and ready to hit, holding the other teams middle. Her quick arm lends to some big time kills whether running a 1, 3 or slide. I’m privileged to be working with this dynamic athlete.”

Marks takes great pride in athletics, academics and school involvement.

“I’ve been playing competitive sports since the age of 10 including soccer, softball, and volleyball,” she wrote in her personal message to college coaches. “I’ve found my passion to be volleyball. The thrill of nonstop action and speed is where I thrive and is the reason volleyball fits me perfectly.

“Academically, I challenge myself by taking Honors and AP classes. I enjoy spending time being involved with extracurricular school activities including National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, Empowering Young Women, and Community Outreach.”

Playing college volleyball would be a dream come true.

“I want to play volleyball at the collegiate level,” said Marks, who plans to major in Business. “Energy, determination, and hard work are key assets I bring to my team. As captain of my club team, when improving my game I also find ways to help my teammates and encourage them to work harder. Playing volleyball in college is a dream of mine that I will relentlessly work to achieve.”
