Ryan Hudson

Take a moment to review the impressive list of golf accomplishments of our Male Athlete of the Day, Ryan Hudson, a senior from Lyon Township High School in LaGrange, Illionois.  This 3.7 student has accumulated a wide range of honors.  His NSR scout, Tanya Olson, speaks of his abilities in her scouting report which reads, “Ryan Hudson is an outstanding young golf talent from Western Springs, IL; his personality both on and off the course will make him a tremendous asset to any college program.  On the course, Ryan is true pleasure to watch; his determination and dedication to the game will make his senior year a successful one.  He is continuously working on his swing and total aspects of the game with his swing coach Connie Demattia (ranked Golf Digest “Top Instructors in Illinois”).  Ryan is a natural competitor, but more importantly a true gentleman.”  When speaking to college coaches in his personal essay, Ryan says, “Golf is much more than a game.  It has enabled me to develop leadership skills, showed me the reward of hard work and dedication and taught me the importance of integrity.  I have learned that hard work and dedication can be very rewarding.  Last year I made a commitment to become an elite golfer.  I worked day in and day out to improve my game.  I recognize you can’t become an elite player overnight, but I tasted real success last fall as the 16th place finisher in the Illinois high school state golf tournament and as a member of the 2nd place team.  I’m ready to build on my success and take it to the next level. I have tremendous respect for the game of golf.  I think it’s really neat that players themselves are responsible for abiding by the rules.  Every time I step onto a golf course I know my reputation is at stake.  For that reason, I always treat my fellow golfers with respect and exhibit excellent sportsmanship during each and every round.  I’m eager to move onto the next phase of my life.  I hope the college experience will allow me to further develop the skills and qualities I have learned from golf.  In college, I plan to work harder than I ever have and accomplish great things on the golf course and in the classroom.”
