Austin Loewen

Austin Loewen is a stellar track athlete who carries a 3.8 GPA.  He has a long list of accomplishments to admire including beign the Michigan Division 2 state champion in the 110 high hurdles with an impressive 14.43 time and was last season’s Junior Olympic State champion in the same event.  As a junior, he was the LSJ Honor Roll Meet Champion in the high hurdles, earned All-Area Team honors, voted his team’s MVP, placed third int he J.O. Regional Meet and was a National Semi-finalist placing 14th out of 56 hurdlers nationwide.  Austin currently owns the school records in the low hurdles as 39:40 and the high hurdles mark at 14:43.  In his essay to college coaches, Austin says, “I am a competitive person. Throughout my life, I have tried my best to succeed when I have encountered challenges. When I do something, I want to be the best that I can be at it. Athletically and academically I enjoy being challenged and I will do my best to meet those challenges. Track has taught me that focus, confidence and determination will give me a foundation for success in any situation.  My ability to focus has helped me achieve my goals.”  In his scouting report on Austin, NSR scout, Rodney Palmer says, “Austin Loewen of Williamston High School comes from one of the premier track programs in the State of Michigan. He has continued this tradition with great personal and team success. In 2012, he became a Division 2. State Champion in the 110 HH’s. He owns the 110 HH and 300 LH School records with a PHAT times of 14:43 in the 110 HH’s and in the 300 LH 39:40. Austin not only is a special track and field athlete, but he is an excellent student-athlete. He scores high in the class room and has scored a 28 on his first ACT test taken. He has more impressive qualities such as his likeable personality, willingness to learn, and a high drive to succeed on and off the track. He is an excellent college prospect.”
