Moving North and three states away was never a huge deal for Morgan Cary. As a high school senior, she just wanted to find the college where she felt at home and got along well with the coach and team. She was looking for that special chemistry a prospect can only sense and experience with a personal campus visit. In her heart, Morgan knew that when she had found that special place that she would somehow know it in her heart. And then, after visiting a number of colleges up and down the Eastern Seaboard, Morgan stopped in Elizabeth City, NC for a planned visit to Elizabeth City State University. Perfectly situated between Tidewater Virginia and the North Carolina Outer Banks, Morgan toured the buildings, met the administrators, coaches and volleyball team, and knew she had found home away from home. Four months later, after graduating high school, Morgan packed her Florida bags and headed for Carolina. You see, Morgan is a former NSR volleyball prospect from The Villages High near Oxford, FL. Now a freshman outside hitter for ECSU, Morgan recently had her best match of the season in a three game sweep over Virginia Union University, but she has been a contributor for the Lady Vikings all season. Last week the team sealed up its fourth consecutive CIAA division championship. When we spoke to Cary’s coach at ECSU, Linda Bell, she had this to say: “Morgan has been an exceptional athlete and she is a very coachable young lady. Having the ability to go to NSR and find such fine athletes like Morgan who are very versatile has been a great blessing for our program. Thank you NSR again for working with student-athletes and allowing coaches like myself with a small budget to have the ability to find volleyball players across the country who can fit our program.” Read more about Morgan’s outstanding performance for the Lady Vikings.
