Record-setting Performance and 2-TD’s in 26 Seconds Save Sooners

With their backs firmly against the wall, the Oklahoma Sooners turned to one of their key players on Saturday, former NSR prospect and OU’s sophomore QB, Landry Jones.  In a cross-state grudge match in which the outcome carried considerably more weight than in previous years, Landry equaled a school record for passing yards and led the Sooners to a do-or-die, dramatic win over rival Oklahoma State, 47-41, and a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game this coming weekend against Nebraska.  Sooner’s head coach Bob Stoops following the win said, “You watch some of the great quarterbacks — the Joe Montanas and those guys — they’ll have bad days and then they’ll have a fourth quarter that wins the game and that’s all anybody talks about. … The important thing is to stay after it,” coach Bob Stoops said. “You’re still going to have opportunities to make your plays. And maybe, (Landry’s) getting that.”

The fourth quarter was a see-saw battle in which Landry pushed OU to a pair of TD’s in less than 30 seconds.  His 468 total passing yards tied an OU record.  For the season, he has thrown 3, 947 yards on 348 completions in 527 attempts.  He’s tossed 10 interceptions and 34 touchdowns for a passer efficiency rating of 146.44.
