Jones’ 300+ Yard-Game Fails to Lift Sooners in 36-27 Loss

Being rated #1 is turning out to be more of a curse than a compliment.  For the third consecutive week, the nation’s top-ranked FBS program was shut down by an underdog.  This time it was Missouri’s turn to spoil (and revel in) the day as the undefeated and 11th-ranked Tigers mounted a sustained second half effort which the Sooners were unable to stop nor answer.  The final score, 36-27.  The Sooners showing signs of life in the final half of play was not enough to overcome a possessed Tiger squad at Homecoming in Columbia.

Former NSR prospect Landry Jones was again effective by throwing for 303 yards.  His 32 for 50 outing with three TD’s was offset by two interceptions.  For the season, Landry continues to be one of the most prolific FBS quarterbacks with impressive numbers through seven games:  195 completions in 292 attempts for 2,094 total yards with 17 touchdowns and five interceptions for a passer efficiency rating of 142.81.  Landry is averaging just shy of 300 yards per game through the air.  This coming Saturday, OU travels to Boulder to take on Pac-10-bound Colorado.
