There may be a handful of 6-foot-two freshman softball pitchers in America.

Jaycie Cline is an NSR prospect, she is one of them and she is very good. Her height definitely gives her an advantage in the circle, but what may be her biggest plus side is that she is a relentless competitor.

NSR’s national director of softball, Robby Wilson, says Cline already “performs, acts, and handles herself like a college athlete.”  That’s high praise from a college scout who has placed softball prospects at every level of college competition.

He adds, “Jaycie has a demeanor about her on the mound that is intimidating, but also very gathered and composed.” At the plate this summer, she hit .591 to go along with an .818 slugging percentage.

And yes, Cline entered high school this fall at United Township High in East Moline, Ill.

Jaycie Cline is already on the recruiting boards of many college programs.

Wilson caps off his assessment of Cline by saying, “Jaycie is very mature, responsible and dedicated to her craft. She’s going to be a top recruit in her class and a huge asset at the next level.”

A solid student who has made the honor roll the past three years, Cline expressed her goals in her essay to college coaches.

“I pride myself on being a fierce pitcher with a will to win, and that includes my ability to hit for power and contribute on both sides of the game. When I step onto the field nothing else matters. On the field I always remember what I’ve practiced for and what I’m working hard for. I give a 120% in softball, school, and life in general. I will be a great asset to any team, and I will put forth the effort to help make the team the best that we can be. I enjoy making life-long friends for the teams I play for and also play against, and the ones I’m going to meet along the way. God has blessed me with certain tools both physically and mentally, and I plan to honor those gifts and not only play at the next level, but at the elite level.” Cline exclaimed.
