The Recruiting Process Can Be Exciting and Fun, but You Gotta Be in It to Enjoy It

Sarah Forcacs is enjoying a great career as a softball player at Campbell University (NC).

There really is nothing like it, but far too many talented and deserving high school athletes miss out on the chance of a lifetime — to be recruited and offered a scholarship to play college sports.  At NSR, after 30 years of being closely involved in high school scouting and college recruiting, we know something which many parents and kids don’t know — if you just get involved in the recruiting process, that is, properly letting college coaches know the details of who you are and what you can offer their programs, you will never regret it.  But, old fashioned ways of contacting coaches just won’t cut it today.  This is not your daddy’s recruiting process, not anymore.

The problem seems seated in a mindset which keeps parents from doing what is best for their kids, although they think they do.  That archaic thinking says that “if you are good enough college coaches will find you,”  or “if you play club, coaches will recruit you.”   Neither is true in modern recruiting.

Coaches don’t go to high school games any longer, at least very rarely, so you will not be seen there.  And, club and travel sports are the present day equivalent of local youth leagues.  There are too many tournaments and players at these events to realistically anticipate a coach will pick out an unknown prospect.  Look around.  Hundreds of kids are now playing club and travel sports, but no more kids are being recruited than before this trend took hold.

Today’s college coaches have so many options.  They do a large majority of the initial recruiting phase, recognition, at their computers.  Yes, they still look at incoming mail, but only from credible sources and parents aren’t credible sources.

As a prospect, or parent, you have to lock and load with a credible source to get the kind of wide spread promotional coverage necessary to attract attention, or to get your top college choices to pay serious attention to you.  And, waiting is no longer an option.  Any parent who sits back and depends on coaches to find their kid is putting their kid’s dreams at high risk.  You have to get in there and in a big, big way.  So, if whreading this you are saying, “What do I do?”  Then, read on and take heed because you really don’t know the excitement, exhileration and joy which you are missing!

Deep in their hearts loads of high school kids want and should play college sports.  They don’t want to give up the one extra curricular activity which has in many ways defined them as a person.  They’ve put in huge numbers of practice hours, traveled untold miles to games and tournaments, and put their hearts into something which can sadly slip away in a matter of weeks or months if the right decisions aren’t made at home.  The professionals at NSR know this because we see it every year.  Please, don’t allow this to happen to you or your kid!

Stephen Hogan has already committed to Arkansas State.

Many times the only obstacle between the kids and coaches is a viable connector.  That connector is NSR.  We put kids with coaches better than any other organization in the world.  By helping families to understand the process and through expanded and highly effective promotional strategies, NSR is able to put kids in front of coaches so that they, the coaches, can do what they desperately want to do which is to find, evaluate and then recruit the best possible kids to fill their roster needs.  That could be you!  Without this integral help, most kids will never have the thrill of participating at the college level — their dream lost forever.

Think of it, parents:  your kid getting top-notch coaching, training meals, preferred college professors and classes, first-rate gear, great travel opportunities and the chance to have a structured schedule while surrounded by what quickly becomes a family away from home.  This all adds up to a sense of security, fulfillment and enjoyment which otherwise will go missing.

Isn’t it time for you to make the decision to explore this option, the NSR option?  What do you have to lose?  Call your local NSR scout today.  Ask for a free in-home interview and evaluation.  Get to know the professionals who have successfully helped high school prospects for the last 30 years.  We’re really good at this and we can help.
