When Chandler Rogers takes the field, records fall. Already holding the state independant high school record for touchdowns, Chandler only trails Brett Favre’s nephew, Dylan, for the overall state mark. So far this year, the Brookhaven Academy senior quarterback and NSR prospect has thrown 155 completions in 255 attempts for 2,865 yards passing including 29 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He has also rushed for 700 yards on 100 carries with 17 rushing TD’s.
With last Friday’s win over Cenla Christian Academy, Brookhaven, the District 4-AA champion, improved to 12-1 on the season and advances to the AA South State Championship game this Friday as the Cougars host River Oaks.
Chandler’s career-best performance of 386 yards passing and four TD’s against Cenla moved him into second place in the overall record books for the state of Mississippi. He has now accounted for 134 touchdowns during his career, second to former St. Stanislaus’ Favre. In the game against Cenla, Chandler passed former Shannon High and Ole Miss standout quarterback Romaro Miller, who holds third place with 127 scores.
An honor student at Brookhaven, the 6’3″, 200-pound Chandler carries a 3.95 GPA. His plan is to major in Psychology and continue on to medical school and pursue a degree in psychiatry. His NSR scout is Paul Hux who is the Area Director for most of the state of Mississippi.
