When you first read about it, you think there’s a misprint.  Then, you look again.  It’s true.  West Liberty College’s men’s basketball team is averaging over 122 points per game.  You read that correctly.  Their lowest output so far this season is 86.  That’s more than most teams will tally in a single game all year.  Their highest?  One hundred and fifty-seven points in a win over Point Park University (PA).  Jim Crutchfield, the head coach, has posted six 20-win seasons in a row for the school.  Twelve of his 13 roster players are averaging over 5.0 points per game with four in double figures, the highest at 17.5, 5’11” guard Corey Pelle.  Oh, and the Hilltoppers are ranked #1 in the latest NCAA DII men’s basketball poll.  The small public school is located in West Liberty, WV,  in the narrow northern panhandle of West Virginia between southwestern Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.
