Tressel's days could be numbered as the NCAA gets closer.

Ohio State head football coach Jim Tressel is in serious trouble.  The NCAA is now after his hide for lying to investigators as well as to his own athletic director at OSU for declaring that he had no knowledge of potential issues involving his players.  Why is it so hard for some people to step up to the podium and tell the truth?  Is winning a few more games really so important that a coach would put his entire career and the college’s reputation at risk on the long-odds chance that he wouldn’t be found out?  Apparently so.  Yet, the irony is this: it’s entirely likely that had the allegations been made about another coach, Tressel’s best advice to that coach would have been to own the problem and get beyond it ASAP.  When coaches are so embroiled in sorry circumstances that they lose perspective of right and wrong, why can’t they see their own integrity sliding away on the slime they have laid down in front of themselves?  It’s a shame, but moreover, it was avoidable had Coach Tressel simply said, “Columbus, we have a problem.”
