Social media is an amazing tool that has taken over the lives of many people. It is how people stay in touch with family and friends, stay on top of the news, instant communication, access a wealth of knowledge, and much more.

Many young athletes honestly believe that social media is the best avenue to get recruited. “I will put my Hudl link on Twitter and college coaches will find me and reach out to me”. I have actually heard that quote many times from athletes looking to play at the next level.

The Problem with Social Media

The problem with this is that there are nearly 1 million young people playing high school football, and roughly, one-third of those are seniors. So, the competition for a limited amount of scholarship dollars is amazing, and almost all the athletes are sending videos to the same coaches that you are. This is an EPIC waste of time and is a futile effort.

Football recruiting is about getting honest and accurate information in the hands of the “gatekeeper” that can disseminate to the people evaluating potential recruits. Recruiting is about understanding the importance of academics with regard to your chances of being recruited. I don’t care how many stars a player has, if they don’t meet the academic requirements set forth by the NCAA and cleared by the eligibility center, they aren’t going to get into any NCAA institution.

How NSR Can Help

NSR scouts help educate the athletes they work with on just these types of matters. They help the families manage the chaos of the recruiting process, and many of them have trusted relationships with coaches that will help open the doors for the athlete.

Don’t continue to waste your time. Contact an NSR scout for your region by completing this short Evaluation Request Form. They will get with you and provide you with an unbiased evaluation and discuss with you how your skillset relates to college football.
