An NSR AD or Area Scout Can Clear the Way for Prospects

Prospects like Jeff Camilli count on their NSR scout to provide sage advice.

The recruiting process is a heady experience which can take a recruit on a daily rollercoaster ride of emotional ups and downs. For NSR prospects, you know, the lucky ones who constantly hear from college coaches through the receiving recruiting of letters, emails and phone calls, this activity can nevertheless create an inconsistent, unpredictable world of dealing with the initial interests of college coaches who then inexplicably and abruptly drop off the map. Still, each opportunity is precious and can raise the identity, hopes and prospects of 17-year-olds wanting desperately to be neck deep in offers.

Handling these pressures, real or imaginary, is a heavy load on the shoulders of high school student-athletes. On one hand, they are lucky and happy for the attention. Conversely, they must decipher which programs are seriously interested in their athletic and academic talents versus merely going through the motions. The outcome is often measured by the advice these youngsters get from parents, coaches and friends. But, those fortunate enough to have an NSR AD or Area Scout alongside them are constantly assured that there is a objective voice of reason to bank on.

Nearly every NSR prospect faces this dilemma. Because of our widespread as well as targeted promotions, NSR “kids” are typically inundated with questionnaires which can be overwhelming. Time is of the essence, but few high school prospects and their parents are prepared to cordon off a segment of their already busy schedules to cope with the continual flow of correspondence from interested coaches from around the U.S. That’s where their NSR scout comes in and can play a key role in the decision making process.  An NSR scout’s intimate understanding of the big picture is of inestimable value to their client-prospects.

Amy O'Grady's NSR scout is available to help her sift through key recruiting decisions.

Advising student-athletes is one of the key responsibilities NSR scouts and home office personnel take very seriously. While our primary, and contractual, obligation is to promote prospects to college coaches, it is our unwritten focus to help our prospects expedite the process and clear the cobwebs from their path. We do this in a variety of ways, but mostly it happens because we truly care about our clients and the success they eventually can have in securing a scholarship or roster offer from one or more college coaches. It’s in our nature to go the distance and to make people happy with their choice to enroll with NSR. In fact, our now 32-year reputation stands firmly on finishing the deal.

NSR client families have responsibilities, too. It is their involvement in the NSR Game Plan which catapults them from also-ran prospects to the top of many coaches’ white boards. With continuous profile updates, fresh snapshots and quality video submitted in a timely manner, they can reap the full benefits of being noticed, evaluated and recruited. Assuming an assertive role in this process, together parents and NSR can produce extraordinary results. Many NSR prospects do, in fact, hear from a hundred or more college coaches. They are not always the schools a particular prospect might be “high” on, but this attention is a far better option than waiting for college coaches to discover them via local newspapers or through the relatively few contacts their high school, club or travel coaches may have.

As each day passes, a myriad of crises are on the horizon for NSR prospects. But, with the help of their local NSR AD or Area Scout, they can weather the storms and emerge with well-founded information from a person who is in the fray every day and is accustomed to, and has already dealt with, the fray of high school scouting and college recruiting. A steadying hand can make all the difference in the world, especially when the current dreams and future lives of young people rest on the balance.
