But First, Know Where You Stand and How to Reverse Course

Don't you think that you've waited long enough for coaches to find you?

Oops!  What they said would happen just hasn’t come true, right?  “Wait, the coaches will find you.”  “Don’t worry, I know somebody in the athletic department.”  “As part of our club team, we’ll get your name out to colleges.”  Sound familiar?  Well, old habits die hard, but these are the things a lot of well-intended but ill-prepared adults tell kids who want desperately to play college sports.  And what are the kids and their parents supposed to do?  Go against the word of their friends or coaches?  Thumb their noses at people who say they can help?  No, that’s not what you should do.  Instead, take their help, but do some things on your own which will get to the heart of the matter.  That is, aggressively go after a scholarship.

To that, here’s our Two-week Recalibration Plan for families that are timid about hurting others’ feelings, but want to get things moving in the right direction sooner than later:

  1. Put together a comprehensive profile which includes athletic and academic info, stats and history.
  2. Get an official transcript from your high school guidance counselor.
  3. Find the five best digital pictures you can get your hands on — action, athletic portrait, social and school portrait are all desirable.
  4. Get video from the high school coach.   If there is none, take some skill footage (repetitive drills).
  5. Compile a list, a realistic list, of the colleges for consideration.
  6. Call an NSR scout to review the assembled info.

It will take you about ten days to pull all this info together.  If you are a legitimate college prospect, an NSR scout will be able to tell you where you are in the recruiting process versus where you should be at the current stage of your high school career.  Next, he or she will closely examine your qualifications, athletic and academic, and help you to determine where you best fit in the college recruiting landscape.  Every prospect fits into a recruiting box.  Your NSR scout will give you professional advice on where you should turn your efforts.  Finally, if you qualify as an NSR prospect, enroll with your scout immediately.  Within 48 hours, your profile will be online and available for college coaches to evaluate.  Then, within two weeks, your profile will be sent to every college coach in your sport in America.  Then, with the help of your NSR scout, you will be matched with every college program in your region which meets your academic qualifications and you will be connected with the coaches in your sport at those colleges.  And, there’s more.

If you want attention from college coaches, we can make that happen, NOW.  If you want coaches to take your seriously as a prospect and appreciate what you can bring to the table, we can make that happen, NOW.  If you want to aggressively get in the recruiting mix for scholarship consideration, we can make that happen, NOW.

Or, you can wait.
