Another Solid Performance for New Mexico Native

Jones is well-positioned for a 2011 Heisman run.

Although the Oklahoma Sooners fell to Big 12 Conference rival Texas A&M 33-19 in College Station on Saturday, former NSR querterback prospect Landry Jones continued to post impressive passing numbers by going 36 of 59 for 290 yards with one touchdown and one interception.  OU has now lost two games and has fallen out of contention for the BCS national championship.  Conference rival Missouri, which handed the Sooners their first loss two weeks ago, also lost in Conference play to Texas Tech, 24-17.

After nine games, Landry has 263 completions in 397 attempts with 22 TD’s and 6 INT’s.  He has a QB rating of 141.54.  The Sooners next test will be against Texas Tech this Saturday in Norman.

This may not be Landry’s year for the Heisman, but he is setting himself up for a serious run in 2011-12.  With numbers like his, Landry promises to be a pre-season favorite entering his junior campaign.
