Here's Your Sign

Here’s Your Sign

Sometimes the signs are right in front of us.

You’ve been to the camps. Played in the showcases. Posted the highlights. Emailed coaches. Filled out questionnaires.

You’ve waited.

And waited.

And still, nothing is happening.

Here’s your sign.

You’re Working Hard, But Nothing Is Changing

Working hard and being recruited are not the same thing.

If you’re spending every weekend at tournaments, camps and showcases but not seeing real recruiting results, it may be time to ask yourself:

Is what I’m doing actually working?

If the answer is no, that doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough.

It may simply mean you need a different plan.

Coaches Aren’t Responding

You send the emails. No response.

You send another. Still nothing.

Silence doesn’t automatically mean you can’t play at the next level. You could be contacting the wrong programs, sending the wrong message, or simply not giving coaches enough information to evaluate you.

But silence is still information.

Here’s your sign.

You’re Getting Attention, But Not Getting Recruited

A camp invitation isn’t necessarily recruiting.

A social media follow isn’t recruiting.

A mass email isn’t recruiting.

And “We’d love to see you at camp” isn’t the same as “We’re recruiting you.”

Learn the difference between exposure and actual recruiting activity.

You Keep Saying, “Maybe After…”

Maybe after this season.

Maybe after I improve my film.

Maybe after this showcase.

Maybe after one more camp.

At some point, “maybe after” becomes a recruiting strategy built on hope instead of a plan.

Here’s your sign.

You Haven’t Been Properly Evaluated

This may be the biggest sign of all.

Before you can effectively promote yourself, you need to know where you fit.

What level can you realistically play?
What are your strengths?
What needs improvement?
What makes you recruitable?
Which programs should be looking at you?

You can’t build the right recruiting plan until you know where you stand.

It’s Time to Change Something

This sign isn’t telling you to give up.

It’s telling you to change something.

Evaluate.
Identify.
Develop a plan.
Target the right programs.
Build relationships.
Know what needs to happen next.

The lack of recruiting activity doesn’t mean the dream is over.

But it may be telling you that what you’re currently doing isn’t working.

Sometimes we spend so much time waiting for a sign that we miss the ones already in front of us.

If you’ve been wondering whether it’s time to approach recruiting differently…

Here’s your sign.
