The fall evaluation period is almost here and Division 1 coaches will be on the road soon. But let’s be clear—coaches aren’t blindly showing up to see who might catch their eye. By the time they step foot at a showcase, they already have a list. That list is built from months, sometimes years, of evaluation, communication, and film review. If you’re not on it, don’t expect much attention.
Every program comes in with a watch list, and that’s who they’re tracking. They’ve already seen video, they’ve already heard about the athlete, and now they’re checking to see if what’s on paper matches what’s on the field. The showcases might have thousands of players spread across multiple complexes, but coaches are moving with purpose. They aren’t wandering, they’re on a mission.
This is exactly why so many athletes and families leave major events feeling frustrated. They see college coaches in the stands and assume opportunity will come just by being there. What they don’t realize is that every second of a coach’s time is already spoken for. If you’re not identified as a recruit before the event, you won’t suddenly become one during it.
The fall evaluation period is confirmation, not discovery. The athletes being watched have already done the work to get recognized and placed on a staff’s radar.
This fall, our NSR scouts will be on the ground evaluating athletes and communicating directly with college coaches about the ones we choose to work with. If you want a real shot at being seen, it starts with a proper evaluation. Don’t wait for another recruiting cycle to pass you by — set up your evaluation today by clicking the button below.
