National Scouting Report is well represented at the 93rd annual American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) convention this week in San Antonio.<\/p>\n

Ten NSR area directors and scouts, led by National Football Director Larry Perrin and National Director of Scouting Robert Cagle, have been mingling with college coaches and manning the NSR booth at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.<\/p>\n

About 6,000 college and high school coaches registered for the four-day event, which began Sunday. Eighty-five speakers have lectured on topics such as concussion management, X\u2019s and O\u2019s, practice and program organization, media relations, career development and much more.<\/p>\n

Hundreds have stopped by the NSR booth to meet with scouts and learn more about \u201cEvolution,\u201d NSR\u2019s new state-of-the-art, interactive portal system.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to build, maintain and strengthen relationships with college coaches,\u201d said Cagle, who doubles as NSR Area Director in South Alabama. \u201cSome of our guys manned the booth. Others were out in the hallways visiting with coaches they know or introducing themselves to those they didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cagle, who attends the AFCA convention annually with his wife, Susan, said he has seen lots of familiar faces.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a reunion for us,\u201d said Cagle, a former offensive lineman and member of the college recruiting staff at Ole Miss. \u201cI come back and see coaches whom I\u2019ve dealt with and played with. I also put names and faces together.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to its website, the AFCA is the only national organization solely dedicated to improving football coaches through ongoing education, interaction and networking. Its primary goal is to provide resources for personal and professional development amongst the football coaching profession.<\/p>\n

Composed of more than 11,000 members, the AFCA represents coaches and several stakeholders within the game of football. Any high school, junior college, international, semi-professional or professional football coach is eligible for membership.<\/p>\n

Cagle said one of the most memorable moments of the week came when he bumped into a major NCAA Division I coach who sang NSR\u2019s praises.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe coach told me, \u2018I can talk to [NSR] and know you are the real deal,\u2019\u2019\u2019 Cagle said. \u201c[NSR] doesn\u2019t enroll just anybody. You evaluate kids and and qualify them. I know you\u2019re not wasting our time when you recommend a kid to us.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
