Katie Nash\u00a0brings a great attitude to everything she does.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Katie Nash<\/a>, a 2016 National Scouting Report basketball prospect, has figured out two key things about\u00a0recruiting.<\/p>\n

First, coming from a small school in Indiana, the odds are stacked against her.\u00a0 South Knox High School<\/a>, located on the outskirts of Vincennes, has only 400 students. \u00a0Her senior class? \u00a0Seventy-seven.<\/p>\n

Second, to be a highly desirable college prospect in her situation, she doesn’t\u00a0have to be the very best athlete on the floor. \u00a0She isn’t\u00a0required to be the smartest, the quickest or the strongest.\u00a0 No, if she\u00a0really want to impress college coaches, Katie knows that she must have a great attitude and bring it every day to practice and games.<\/p>\n

“[Katie] is always pushing herself to get better and grow as a player,” South Knox coach Hollie Anson-Eaves said. “She is an extremely hard worker on and off the court. \u00a0I have had the privilege of coaching Katie her junior and senior years of high school. \u00a0She\u00a0is one of those people who sets a goal and will not stop until she gets that goal. \u00a0Katie has set many goals for herself; one of those is playing at the next level. \u00a0I feel this is very obtainable for her. \u00a0I have watched this young lady work very hard to get to the position she is now. Katie is a coach able individual who strives to complete any objective I ask of her. \u00a0She is also willing to put in the time outside of practice that is needed to improve her skills.”<\/p>\n

Need more\u00a0proof?<\/p>\n

The 5-10 basketball post player and volleyball front row hitter\u00a0has\u00a0garnered two separate Mental Attitude awards in two different sports.<\/p>\n

When an NSR\u00a0scout first evaluated her, Katie’s approach to the game was just as impressive as her play.<\/p>\n

Nash’s work ethic is unmatched.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“Katie Nash is an extremely hard working, dedicated athlete with a positive attitude and work ethic that will ensure a successful career,” her NSR scouting report reads. “She is\u00a0a four-year starter on the varsity basketball team and she has the ability to be in the right spot at the right time for rebounds and loose balls. \u00a0\u00a0She’s not afraid to be physical. \u00a0One of Katie’s greatest strengths is her offensive rebounding ability. Whenever she steps on the floor, it’s always maximum effort, never takes a possession off. \u00a0She is an absolute coach’s dream, a tireless worker, gym rat. \u00a0Katie is an excellent leader on and off the court, too.”<\/p>\n

It doesn’t do her any harm that she is averaging a double-double halfway through her senior season. Katie averages 13 points and 13 rebounds per game.\u00a0 She is hearing from a number of NCAA Division II and III schools.<\/p>\n

Katie said she has gone on one official visit so far with another one scheduled for this month. \u00a0By the sound of it, she likely will be going on several more.<\/p>\n

“I’m very excited about the schools interested in me,” she said. “A few are eight hours away, but that’s okay with me.”<\/p>\n

Nash carries that same positive attitude into the classroom. \u00a0A three-year member of the National Honor Society and four-year member of the Academic Achievement Society, Katie boasts a 3.94 GPA and 24 ACT score.\u00a0 As more schools\u00a0take notice of\u00a0this multi-talented student-athlete, coaches should be quick to notice her academic accomplishments.<\/p>\n

“I love the game,”\u00a0 Katie said. \u00a0“By playing in college, I can extend my playing time. I feel I have not peaked as a player and still have much to accomplish on the court. A basketball scholarship will also help me afford to attend a school in an area I may not have been able to attend otherwise. \u00a0Someday I will be a teacher and hope to coach a team of my own. Playing at the college level will provide experiences to make me a better person and coach later.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
