He plays multiple sports in high school — football and baseball — and loves them both.

Making the decision to pursue a college football scholarship was a difficult one for the 6-foot-3 wide receiver from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga, a northern suburb of Atlanta. However, he refused to abandon his baseball teammates to concentrate only on his football dreams. Being an integral part of both programs is very important to the 195-pound senior.

“I am a two-sport athlete, helping both the football and baseball teams to be very competitive each season,” he said. “In playing two team sports, I believe that teamwork is what makes a team successful. Everyone has to do their job. Whether that job is blocking for your teammate or even laying down a bunt to get your teammate home, each member is important.

“My parents instilled that into me early on in my life. This has not been an easy task, but it has taught me one thing: In order to be successful in whatever you do, it going to take a lot of work!”

Mike Ewing, NSR’s area director for North Georgia, gives Windham a thumbs up in his scouting report — on and off the field — to college coaches. Windham, who boasts a 3.7 GPA, plans to major in Sports Therapy in college.

“C.J. has very good size, 6-3 and 190 pounds, and runs a 4.6 40,” Ewing wrote. “He is working hard to get faster. C.J has a 33-inch vertical, excellent hands and is working on running better routes. In the past he could get by with just outrunning defenders.

“C.J. is the ultimate team player. Whether it’s football, baseball, or just at school in general, C.J. is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He shows good leadership traits and is very well liked by his teammates and peers. C.J. is also an outstanding student.”

Windham’s size and open-field speed make him a formidable downfield target.

Windham’s parents and faith have been very instrumental in his growth, attitude and approach to life.

“I am grateful for my parents’ advice and being a huge part in my life,” he said. “They got me involved in the church at an early age. I am currently part of an outreach ministry to feed homeless people in downtown Atlanta and I assist several youth organizations within my church. I realized that all things are possible if I keep God as the head of my life. There have been a lot of ups and downs in my sports career, but I know that God has His hands in my life and he will open doors for me.”

Windham also believes that his workmanlike approach to football will give him an edge in college.

“My short-term goal is to play football at the college level,” he said. “I am very confident that my work ethnic and being a team player will help any program I am given the opportunity to play for.”

C.J.
