San Diego’s Jase Sousa offers the intangible all college soccer coaches desire.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Jase Sousa is a talented high school soccer player who has the on-field skills and classroom grades to impress college coaches on all levels.<\/p>\n

The senior right wing and striker from Point Loma High School in San Diego wants to play at the next level. After watching him play, Gil Barkey, National Soccer Director for National Scouting Report,\u00a0 is confident he will.<\/p>\n

Not one to mince words, Coach Barkey was spot on\u00a0 when he said: “Jase has good speed up front with an attacking mentality.\u00a0 He’s an unselfish player, able to create opportunities for himself and his teammates.\u00a0 He has good vision and is confident with both feet which are always\u00a0assets and necessities in the college game.”<\/p>\n

Playmakers like Sousa are not easy to find, Barkey said.<\/p>\n

“One of the things which struck me about Jase first was that he\u00a0is a physical player who can collect, hold and distribute up top.\u00a0 I love to see that in a prospect,” Barkey said. “In today’s game, playmakers are at a premium and Jase’s\u00a0strong technical skills allow him to be a playmaker.\u00a0 There is no question in my mind that Jase has the potential and skill set to develop into a great player at the collegiate level.”<\/p>\n

Sousa also has played\u00a0 for the Albion Soccer Club in San Diego since he was 7.\u00a0 In today’s soccer world, there’s something to be said for a young soccer player who chooses to stick with one club instead of jumping from team to team.<\/p>\n

Academically, Sousa carries an impressive 4.0 GPA, which means that he has worked hard to open a lot of college doors.\u00a0\u00a0Once in\u00a0college, Jase\u00a0plans to major in Sports Medicine with a minor in Philosophy.<\/p>\n

All that work Jase has put into his sport and schoolwork have pointed toward one\u00a0goal — earning a college scholarship.<\/p>\n

“I believe that I have the skill and determination to play at the collegiate level,” Sousa said in his personal message to college coaches. “Whether it’s on the pitch encouraging my teammates to work harder or in the classroom helping my colleagues, I\u00a0am leader.\u00a0 I lead by\u00a0an example of working hard during training and in matches. I am always attentive to the coach and I perform to the best of my ability in any position that I am told to play.<\/p>\n

“My dream is to play at the college level, and I am willing to do everything that I can to achieve my goal.”<\/p>\n
