It wasn’t an email or a video. It was a personal relationship that made a difference.”

Cagle took great pride last weekend watching dozens of former NSR prospects play college football on national television. He also takes great pride each week watching former NSR prospects play in the NFL.

“They are playing on those teams because of relationships NSR scouts had with their college coaches,” said Cagle, who, along with wife, Susan, trains new scouts. “Coaches don’t always want to talk to high school and travel coaches. They definitely don’t want to talk to parents. They want to talk to someone who can give them objective information. That’s what NSR scouts do.”

NSR establishes and develops those relationships several ways.

Company leaders attend numerous national coaching conventions. Not only do they meet with as many coaches as possible, but they also share uncommitted prospects with them who could be a fit for their programs.

Vertical directors – national directors in various sports – frequently visit college campuses across the country to meet personally with coaches. College coaches get to know and trust them, helping those directors place NSR prospects.

Larry Perrin is National Director of Football for NSR.

“It is our ultimate goal to provide college coaches with qualified student-athletes in all sports,” said Larry Perrin, National Football Director for NSR. “Without the relationships with college coaches, we would not be able to achieve this goal.

“NSR has formed many of these relationships with coaches and staffs over years of dedicated service. Many of our scouts were former coaches or collegiate athletes themselves, so we are plugged in to many staffs through these relationships.”

NSR scouts talk to college coaches at dozens of sporting events each week. They also reach out to college coaches who submit coaching requests asking NSR to fill their recruiting needs.

“We are hands on with our athletes,” Perrin said. “We act as an advocate on their behalf. This is a calculated formula that works for our athletes. That is what makes NSR different.”

High school athletes have about a 5 percent chance of playing college sports. NSR prospects have a 95 percent chance. That’s no accident.

“College coaches receive hundreds and thousands of emails from athletes, parents and travel coaches every day,” said Cagle, a former member of the football recruiting staff at Ole Miss. “They could just be a number. If it’s just another email in a coach’s inbox, there’s nothing that separates that kid’s email from somebody else. However, if a kid has an advocate – an NSR scout – he has an advantage.

“That’s why virtually every kid we work with receives an offer. We’re the doctors and lawyers in the recruiting business.
