I will go to Ireland regularly to train new scouts,\u00a0 to set up showcase events, and establish affiliations and partnerships.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked why he wanted to take on the responsibility as the first NSR licensee, Vance said: &#8220;(Ireland) is an under-served area.\u00a0 We have young athletes who would love to play sports in America, but\u00a0they don&#8217;t know how to do that.\u00a0\u00a0We plan to select top players,\u00a0expose them to all the scholarship possibilities in U.S. colleges, and guide them through the recruiting process.\u00a0 In Ireland, we have some of the most talented soccer athletes in the world.\u00a0 I am really excited about all the upsides ahead of us.\u00a0 We also plan to scout field hockey and basketball players.\u00a0 Both are popular back there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Vance&#8217;s soccer background is impressive. He played in both Ireland and America.\u00a0 He began playing highly competitive\u00a0football (soccer)\u00a0at the age of 14.\u00a0 After winning back-to-back league titles, the Naas team made a run to the semifinals of the All-Ireland Cup.\u00a0 At 18, Vance moved to Phoenix and began playing for the Arizona Sahuaros, who played in the USISL D-3 Pro League.\u00a0 An untimely knee injury ended his playing career, but Vance continues to play in the Scottsdale amateur league and the Big Field of Dreams league.<\/p>\n<p>As NSR&#8217;s first Irish licensee, Vance hand-selected\u00a0longtime friend, Paul Lawlor, to be his eyes and ears as NSR&#8217;s first on-the-ground scout.\u00a0 Lawlor comes well-suited to the task.\u00a0 As a respected sports blogger and commentator for several media outlets, Paul knows the lay of the land and where the talent hot spots are.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8118\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8118\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Jerry-and-Paul-31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8118\" src=\"\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Jerry-and-Paul-31-300x218.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Lowler surveys the athletic facilities as Montevallo University.\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Jerry-and-Paul-31-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Jerry-and-Paul-31.jpg 505w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8118\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Paul Lawlor surveys the athletic facilities as Montevallo University.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The two have been good friends since Vance&#8217;s days as a player in Naas County Kildare in Central Ireland.\u00a0 Lawlor, a self-professed sports nut, became a fan of the local team, Naas AFC, which competed in the Irish Cup, and eventually became one of Jerry&#8217;s best pals.<\/p>\n<p>Asked why he picked Lawlor, Vance didn&#8217;t hesitate to say, &#8220;Paul is someone who I grew up with in Ireland and I trust him fully. I am confident he will present the right opportunities to the right people in Ireland. Anyone who has met Paul would never say a bad word about him.\u00a0 He is a gentleman, full of honesty and integrity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Paul is perfect for NSR Ireland. He has coached a group of youth players in Naas and has been hugely successful. He has some very solid contacts within the Irish sports leagues, and he is very popular in the sporting community.\u00a0 I think what I like most about Paul is his work ethic. He is very excited to bring these additional opportunities to the athletes of Ireland.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We hit it off from the start,&#8221; Lawlor said of his relationship with Vance, &#8220;and we&#8217;ve been tight ever since.\u00a0 I love sports and when Jerry offered me this opportunity, I jumped at the chance to be involved.
