Bluntly, you are either up here<\/em> or down there<\/em>.\u00a0 In college sports recruiting, there is no in-between.\u00a0 In short, high school athletic prospects and their parents can’t survive down there<\/em>.\u00a0 The only place to be and win an athletic scholarship offer is up here<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Enough gobligook.\u00a0 What I am referring to is realizing where you really stand in college recruiting.\u00a0 You are involved up here<\/em>, or not, down there<\/em>.\u00a0 And middle ground is non-existent.<\/p>\n

In truth, most high school athletes aspiring to be recruited are down there<\/em>.\u00a0 They and their parents haven’t\u00a0taken all the essential moves to be noticed, evaluated, contacted, recruited and finally offered by college coaches.\u00a0 That’s a lot to do, isn’t it?\u00a0 Surprising?\u00a0 Thought so.\u00a0 Yet, families cruise along thinking to themselves: “We’re in travel ball, so we’ll be OK,” or “Our coach is handling it for us,” or “We have an online page, so coaches will find us.”\u00a0 All these suppositions typically keep athletes down there<\/em>.<\/p>\n

If any or even all of these things aren’t\u00a0enough\u00a0to put you up here,<\/em> the question becomes obvious: How do\u00a0you ascend from nowhere to somewhere — from down there<\/em> to up here<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Recruiting is a process — a long, detailed\u00a0process.\u00a0 A college coach doesn’t merely show up, see your athlete and make an offer.\u00a0 To ascend through the process,\u00a0families must be fully engaged.\u00a0 Otherwise, there’s little hope that the outcome will be to your liking.<\/p>\n

So, how do you ascend?\u00a0 What specifically\u00a0do you have to do?\u00a0 How do you position yourself?\u00a0 Here’s how:\u00a0 Point all your\u00a0efforts toward one\u00a0thing — being recognized by coaches.<\/p>\n

Go no farther because recognition must happen.\u00a0\u00a0It is the one thing that will catapult you into the recruiting process.\u00a0 No evaluation, comparison with other prospects, visits or offers can or will happen until you are recognized.\u00a0 Everything in recruiting first rests on this one thing.\u00a0 So, take heed of these tips:<\/p>\n
