{"id":7353,"date":"2013-06-27T10:05:05","date_gmt":"2013-06-27T15:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nsr-inc.com\/blog\/?p=7353"},"modified":"2013-06-27T10:05:05","modified_gmt":"2013-06-27T15:05:05","slug":"delivery-method-used-to-send-profile-info-to-college-college-coaches-is-vital-for-high-school-athletes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/delivery-method-used-to-send-profile-info-to-college-college-coaches-is-vital-for-high-school-athletes\/","title":{"rendered":"Delivery method used to send profile info to college college coaches is vital for high school athletes"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_7354\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7354\" style=\"width: 244px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nsr-inc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Coach-on-phone.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7354\" alt=\"As a coach, I have to be smart about how I spend my office time and NSR gives me the edge like nobody else can.\" src=\"\/\/nsr-inc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Coach-on-phone.png\" width=\"254\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7354\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">As a coach, I have to be smart about how I spend my office time and NSR gives me the edge like nobody else can.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Okay, here&#8217;s the scene.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s say for a moment that I am\u00a0a college coach.\u00a0 Three packages, or emails, say, arrive on\u00a0my desk.\u00a0\u00a0I will open them in order, but which will be first, second and then last, and why in that order?<\/p>\n<p>Time?\u00a0 It&#8217;s a precious commodity and I don&#8217;t have much of it.\u00a0 So, identifying quickly who sent them is important.\u00a0\u00a0 The time I spend in the office has to be productive just like practices and recruiting\u00a0trips.\u00a0 The dress\u00a0code may be casual in the athletic department, but\u00a0my focus\u00a0is anything but\u00a0casual.\u00a0 Office time is work time, plain and simple.\u00a0 Efficiency is everything.<\/p>\n<p>Back to the stuff that&#8217;s arrived.\u00a0 One is obviously from a parent.\u00a0 The name is unfamiliar.\u00a0 That one goes on the pile in the corner if it&#8217;s a package and in the file called Other Prospects.\u00a0 My assistant will get to it when time permits, but she&#8217;s busy, too, so when its contents are known is, well, unknown.\u00a0 She&#8217;ll either get to it or she won&#8217;t.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve told her that those are low priority.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Parents are not reliable and the ordeal we have to go through to get what we need is not worth the hassle.\u00a0 It&#8217;s usually disorganized and the important stuff is hard to get at which, again, wastes too much of our time.\u00a0 Got it?\u00a0 This will get opened last, if at all.\u00a0 Sorry, folks, but that&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n<p>The second\u00a0one is from a recruiting service.\u00a0 But when I look at the\u00a0sender, I know that it&#8217;s another waste of my time.\u00a0 The\u00a0kids in this group will not have been seen or scouted in person.\u00a0 This\u00a0company is\u00a0like a puppy mill &#8211; they just keep pumping out the\u00a0kids without any real sense of quality.\u00a0 No in-person scouting.\u00a0 No personal interaction.\u00a0 Just call &#8217;em and sign &#8217;em.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get me wrong, they do a great job of trying to get me to open their stuff, but I&#8217;ve been bitten too many times by these guys.\u00a0\u00a0No more.\u00a0\u00a0 If I get hard up for\u00a0recruits, I might\u00a0go down this road, but it&#8217;s so\u00a0tough to find qualified athletes that we know going in that it&#8217;s a chore.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0third one?\u00a0 Now, this one I&#8217;ll open.\u00a0 This is also from a scouting company, but the difference?\u00a0 These guys actually scout their kids.\u00a0\u00a0They do what I do.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0They identify good athletes, check them out for grades, stats, all that, then they go see them play.\u00a0 They study their\u00a0athletes, meet them, meet their parents, interview them, get to know them and when they know that\u00a0a\u00a0prospect is a real, college prospect, they work with them.\u00a0 That means that when I get a package or\u00a0email from this company, I open it.\u00a0 No hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>This company saves me and my staff\u00a0time and a lot of front-end work.\u00a0 They&#8217;re almost like my advance scout team.\u00a0 They\u00a0help me lock onto\u00a0legit prospects.\u00a0 And when their info comes to me, it&#8217;s all right there in the format that\u00a0I want and need to make a quick\u00a0call on moving\u00a0ahead or not.\u00a0 And there&#8217;s video which is\u00a0the final step that I have to take before deciding to reach out to a prospect.<\/p>\n<p>Put yourself in my shoes, would you?\u00a0 What would you do?\u00a0 Look, people can talk and talk and talk about how things work, but I&#8217;m here to\u00a0tell you that when it comes to recruiting, for me at least, it&#8217;s all about time, efficiency and\u00a0reliability.\u00a0\u00a0When a coach\u00a0lines\u00a0finds those three things, life is good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, here&#8217;s the scene.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s say for a moment that I am\u00a0a college coach.\u00a0 Three packages, or emails, say, arrive on\u00a0my desk.\u00a0\u00a0I will open them in order, but which will be first, second and then last, and why in that order?
