{"id":7321,"date":"2013-05-28T14:44:11","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T19:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nsr-inc.com\/blog\/?p=7321"},"modified":"2013-05-28T14:44:11","modified_gmt":"2013-05-28T19:44:11","slug":"high-school-athletes-should-plan-workouts-and-document-progress-this-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/high-school-athletes-should-plan-workouts-and-document-progress-this-summer\/","title":{"rendered":"High school athletes should plan workouts and document progress this summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_6550\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6550\" style=\"width: 261px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nsr-inc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Austin-Loewen-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6550\" alt=\"Make your workouts mean something by planning them and recording your outcomes.\" src=\"\/\/nsr-inc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Austin-Loewen-2.jpg\" width=\"271\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6550\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Make your workouts mean something by planning them and recording your outcomes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Everything today is measurable in athletics.\u00a0 And college coaches are sticklers for stats.<\/p>\n<p>As a high school athlete wanting to advance to the next level, there are plateaus to reach, particularly\u00a0in terms of strength and speed, which place you in the sphere of recruiting consideration for each division.\u00a0 You either fit into the DI, DII or DIII box.\u00a0 Knowing where you stand and being able to readily prove it allows coaches to more quickly and accurately evaluate you.<\/p>\n<p>With summer beginning, it&#8217;s worthwhile to plan your workouts for the next several months.\u00a0 When will you workout?\u00a0 Where?\u00a0 And, what are your speed and strength stage as well as final goals?\u00a0 Without these in place, working out\u00a0holds\u00a0far less significance.<\/p>\n<p>Email\u00a0or call college coaches and ask them, &#8220;Where should I be as a\u00a0rising\u00a0junior (or senior, or sophomore, or freshman) at my position for you to\u00a0want to give me a shot?&#8221;\u00a0 This is allowable by the NCAA and NAIA and it will give you\u00a0clear targets to hit.\u00a0 Call a DI, DII and\u00a0DIII\u00a0assistant coach.\u00a0 Let him or her know that you are serious about being recruited\u00a0but that you want goals\u00a0to shoot for by summer&#8217;s end.<\/p>\n<p>Then, take a tracking form with you to each workout.\u00a0\u00a0Document each station or drill.\u00a0 Push yourself to make small, but important advancements.\u00a0 Learn how to\u00a0properly warm up and cool down.\u00a0 Take plenty of liquids.\u00a0 And, keep your eye on the end game while giving yourself credit and\u00a0kudos for\u00a0reaching daily\u00a0objectives.\u00a0 Accept that you will have good and no-so-good days, but always stay focused on the endgame.<\/p>\n<p>Post your workouts\u00a0in your room.\u00a0 Look at it often, especially\u00a0before you go to bed or when you wake up.\u00a0 Keep it there.\u00a0 Make it a part of\u00a0your routine.\u00a0 And, never quit on yourself.\u00a0 The results will come if you plan and work hard to make it happen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything today is measurable in athletics.\u00a0 And college coaches are sticklers for stats.
