The next few months are crucial for every high school athlete wanting to be recruited to play college athletics.\u00a0 There’s no time to waste.\u00a0 Put these items on your priority list and\u00a0get them checked off ASAP:<\/div>\n

  1. Register with the NCAA and NAIA Initial Eligibility Centers:\u00a0<\/strong> If you want to play NCAA DI and DII as well as any level of NAIA athletics, you must register with their clearinghouses before college coaches will seriously consider you for a scholarship and roster spot.<\/li>\n
  2. Take the SAT or ACT:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0If you have not\u00a0already taken one\u00a0of these\u00a0key tests, register today to\u00a0take it ASAP.\u00a0 Doing so accomplishes four objectives:\u00a0 A) Lets you know where you stand academically for eligibility purposes.\u00a0 B) Gives you an idea what you need to work on to raise your score\u00a0to receive more academic money from colleges.\u00a0 C)\u00a0Signals to college coaches if you will\u00a0meet the academic\u00a0entrance requirements for their\u00a0school.\u00a0 D) Puts the worry behind you of having to\u00a0take these\u00a0often required tests.<\/li>\n
  3. Update all your stats:<\/strong>\u00a0 College coaches\u00a0first glance to see if you have what it takes performance-wise to play at their level.\u00a0 Accurate,\u00a0updates stats are a key to this\u00a0first analysis coaches always do before deciding to seriously pursue a prospect.<\/li>\n
  4. Post updated video:<\/strong>\u00a0 If you meet the basics needs of a college coach in terms of stats and grades, then a coach will want to see\u00a0video on you.\u00a0 For some sports, like baseball, softball, tennis and golf, skill\u00a0footage is enough to peak their interest.\u00a0 For\u00a0others such as football, soccer and lacrosse,\u00a0game\u00a0footage is required.\u00a0 Either way,\u00a0have video available which\u00a0shows your best abilities.<\/li>\n
  5. Reach out to coaches:\u00a0<\/strong> It’s essential to let coaches know that you are interested in their school.\u00a0 Check first to see if you meet their academic entrance requirements.\u00a0 If so, then send emails and make phone calls to the coaches to let them know that\u00a0they are high on your list.\u00a0 And, ask if there is a spot open at your position.\u00a0 If not, move on.\u00a0 If the\u00a0answer is yes, get on their campus for a visit ASAP to start building a relationship with the coaches.<\/li>\n
  6. Get real:\u00a0<\/strong> It’s time to drop dream schools that have not shown you\u00a0any interest or that have told you that their\u00a0recruiting class if full.\u00a0 Yes, it may be disappointing to hear, but it’s time to\u00a0move on to realistic opportunities and leave those\u00a0behind.<\/li>\n
  7. Choose a\u00a0proven promo vehicle:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0You want options, right?\u00a0 If doing it yourself is\u00a0not getting results, or if\u00a0you are waiting for coaches to find you,\u00a0it’s time to seek out a pro that knows recruiting and how to get your name into the hands of as many college\u00a0coaches’ hands as possible.\u00a0 There are options\u00a0which you will never discover on\u00a0your own or through your coaches because both methods are severely limited in their\u00a0ability to reach\u00a0enough college programs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
