We are pleased to present our Male Athlete of the Day honor to Griff Garner<\/strong> <\/a>from Oak Grove High School in Bessemer, Alabama.\u00a0 The 5’11” point guard carries a 3.2 GPA.\u00a0 He is described by his coach, Alex Dillard, who says, “I have coached Griff for 5 travel ball seasons.\u00a0 He has been one of the most coachable players I have ever worked with.\u00a0 Coachable meaning he listens and executes my orders, gives me everything he’s got, he wants to learn more about the game and strategy.\u00a0 He has become a better basketball player and teammate every year that he has played for me.\u00a0 As a person he is one of the nicest, most respectful young men I have ever met!\u00a0 Griff will succeed in anything and eveything he puts his mind and heart into.\u00a0 Also has a great family base that will keep him focused and grounded.”\u00a0 To college coaches, Griff says in his personal essay, “My strengths are that I am a great leader, my teammates trust and respect me and I have an aggressive inside game.\u00a0 I am very proud of the success I have achieved at the free throw line and the skills I exhibit as a ball handler and shooter.\u00a0 I work extremely hard and take great pride in my defensive skills because I believe that defense wins ballgames.
