I might not be the fastest or quickest on my feet (yet), but I have determination and heart. My high school coach always told me that it doesn’t matter how good of a player you are if you don’t have heart when you play. Heart gives me the edge when playing against similar—or sometimes better—players. It prevents me from giving up. It will give me the edge I need to compete in college. Not giving up means that I test my boundaries. I’m not afraid to dive for a ball, or create some contact if it will help my team compete. I am always willing to do whatever it takes to help my team. They’re my family and I consider myself a team leader. I’m not afraid to talk to my teammates on and off the court as I consider communication to be a key aspect of basketball.”

The recipient of our Female Athlete of the Day is Savannah Irwin, a 6’5″ center from La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, California. This standout prospect carries a very impressive 3.82 GPA and plans to major in Biology. Following her junior year, Savannah earned honors such as being named to the UT All-Academic Team … Read more

[1
