Our Male Athlete of the Day, Brian Balico<\/a><\/strong>, is the 18th ranked junior player in New Jersey, carries a 3.5 GPA.\u00a0 The senior hails from Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey.\u00a0 When speaking to college coaches in his NSR essay, Brian says, “I know that in order to be successful in everything you do it entails hard work.\u00a0 For my love and passion for tennis I work hard every day to improve myself.\u00a0 I know I can be an asset to your tennis team because I always work hard on my game and feel like I am constantly improving.”\u00a0 Dan Greco is Brian’s NSR scout and has this to say about him, “Brian is one of the best tennis players in tennis rich Bergen County located in North Jersey. He is the type of player who lives and breathes his sport while being an excellent academic student as well. He has fantastic footwork, great speed and power, and plays a very intelligent game as well. His stroke is strong and accurate and he is very tough and reacts well at the net. He plays for a powerhouse high school program, Bergen Catholic, and has been first singles for them since his freshman. Although he works well and often with his pro, attends many clinics, and dominates local tournaments, Brian has entered very few USTA events due to his focus on academics. That makes him a great find for any college program that he ends up playing for. He has a tremendous desire to play in college and has the physical tools and strong mind to make that happen.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
