Reese Felton<\/strong> <\/a>is our Male Athlete of the Day.\u00a0 Playing for Middleton High School in Middleton, Wisconsin, this 6’0″, 240-pound lineman carries a 3.0 GPA and wants to major in Criminology.\u00a0 His NSR scouting report speaks to his value on the interior line and about the type person Reese is when it says, “Runs a 4.9 (40), benches 295, squats 400, and has a 26” vertical. He is a powerful d-lineman. Quick off the snap and consistently below the shoulders of o-lineman, has the lower body strength and power to get leverage and bull rush, keeps his feet moving, and keeps his chin up. Power to throw aside opponents who are off-balance, and the agility to sidestep low blocks. Has a quick swim move. Uses his hands well to control blockers and accelerates quickly after changing direction. Once his hands are on the runners, they do not break free. Reese is a two-sport athlete (baseball) with a 3.0 GPA taking 4 AP courses as a senior. Interested in pursuing a career in Criminology or Kinesiology. Strongly involved with Special Olympics.”\u00a0 In addressing college coaches, it is apparent that Reese is mature beyond his years when he says, “I am a football player. It’s easy to type and easy to say, but much harder to prove. The last four years have taught me that many people can claim to be whomever they choose but it’s the few dedicated and determined that can actually match that claim on the field. My goal is to be a college football player, hoping to increase my skills and knowledge of the game. Working hard and being dedicated to my program and being a little bit stubborn are traits that have gotten me this far and will help me succeed at the next level.\u00a0 Many people have called me focused. It’s actually helped me do what’s right and not give in to peer pressure. Being focused can be a good and helpful characteristic, as this trait has helped me stay away from alcohol and drugs throughout high school. I have watched many of my teammates make the wrong choice, not even because they wanted to but because they let others decide for them and push them towards decisions that were wrong. I am too focused for that. I would rather focus on the weight I cannot yet lift, the time I cannot yet run and the play I have yet to learn than waste my time being pushed around by peer pressure.”<\/p>\n
