Freedom to play sports is a precious part and privilege of America’s youth<\/strong><\/p>\n

In many coujntries, athetes like NSR prospect Taylor Russell would never be permitted to compete in athletics.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On Election Day it’s fitting to remind high school athletes\u00a0across America how lucky they are to live in a country that offers so many advantages to them in their athletic endeavors.\u00a0 We could go on ad nausea about all the freedoms we enjoy, but this is a day which allows\u00a0us as citizens to revel in the single act of voting for our elected officials\u00a0which is\u00a0a unique right among the human race.\u00a0 The people we put into offices are\u00a0our representatives\u00a0who go on to provide us with laws which permit\u00a0our freedoms to manifest themselves in our daily lives, not the least of which is playing sports throughout our lives.\u00a0 Granted, sometimes they restrict our freedoms to some extent, too, but in the end, and as they pertain to our youth and athletics, what we have is special and invaluable, to say the least.<\/p>\n

Many countries fail to recognize the value of all\u00a0their young people having the chance to chase their dreams of advancing\u00a0from one level to another in athletics.\u00a0 Other countries either curtail athletic participation or\u00a0discourage open athletic\u00a0competition.\u00a0 They put up barriers to their youth, stunt their will to excel and stridently keep them from reaching their God-given potential on the fields,\u00a0diamonds and courts.\u00a0 But\u00a0in America our leaders recognize that one of the most essential freedoms we\u00a0can\u00a0ardently practice\u00a0is to teach our young people to work together in teams, to\u00a0exceed their own personal expectations and to experience and learn\u00a0the ups and downs of life through sports.<\/p>\n

If you are a high school athlete, do not take playing sports for granted.\u00a0 It is a privilege, not a Constitutional right.\u00a0 Were you to live in another country, you could easily be relegated to follow the oppressive rule of a government which\u00a0would have no interest in you as a person, your growth as a contributor to society, or your\u00a0desire to be whatever you might choose to be\u00a0through hard work and results in sports.\u00a0 Be grateful.\u00a0 Be very grateful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
