Representing a college in athletics is an honor.\u00a0 Only about one in twenty-five high school athletes get to experience this unique opportunity.\u00a0 The competition for roster spots is fierce and for the prep athletes that envision themselves in that role getting involved in the recruiting process is the first of many steps which can potentially lead to realizing this dream.<\/p>\n

College coaches are constantly searching for prospects.\u00a0 Regardless of a prospect’s age, coaches are dialed into the field of candidates available to them.\u00a0 The key phrase here is “candidates available to them.”\u00a0 If a coach does not know about a prospect, it is impossible to evaluate and recruit that prospect.\u00a0 So, it is on the athletes to get their comprehensive profiles and video into the hands of coaches.\u00a0\u00a0Without accomplishing this integral step, athletes get left behind or left out altogether.<\/p>\n

Merely being on a club or\u00a0travel team does not guarantee that an athlete will be noticed.\u00a0 Neither does being named to post season\u00a0teams.\u00a0\u00a0Those are resume builders, but they are not conduits to college coach desks.\u00a0 And, parents\u00a0of\u00a0athletes that\u00a0believe that these are enough to get the ball rolling are\u00a0headed\u00a0down the wrong path.<\/p>\n

This the Digital Recruiting Age.\u00a0 College coaches\u00a0no longer go to games, tournaments or other events to discover\u00a0talent.\u00a0 They go to these\u00a0contests knowing which athletes\u00a0they want to see and evaluate.\u00a0 The occasional discovery does happen, but in a\u00a0large majority\u00a0of cases, coaches have already ID’d a prospect and\u00a0attend events to verify a pros[ect’s\u00a0abilities.\u00a0 As an athlete, if you are\u00a0not on coaches’ lists, chances are you will be overlooked and fall to far behind to catch up in time to\u00a0get choices of programs to\u00a0join.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
