Very competitive. Primarily a catcher, but also plays first base, outfield and pitcher. Strong, good speed. Currently runs a 7.2/60 so may be an outfielder in the future. As a catcher, played varsity and called some high school games as a FR. Good knowledge of the game and how to work his pitchers. Good mechanics and blocking skills. Arm speed (72 MPH from C and OF) and pop time (2.19) clocked summer of 2010 by Paramount Scouting Bureau. At the plate, hits in the two/three position. Patient hitter who gets aggressive if he falls behind in the count. Likes to pull the ball, but can take the ball to the opposite field. Good curveball hitter. Bunts very well for sacrifices or hits.” Nathan, speaking to college coaches in his personal essay, says, “No matter how good a player I might be, without self-confidence, my natural ability would not be at its maximum potential. In my school and real life activities, my self-confidence has not only helped me achieve my goals, but also helped me develop my third important trait, leadership. I have always been taught that there is no “I” in baseball. We must play as a team, win as a team, and lose as a team. This unselfish attitude has helped me to become a leader. My teammates and peers see that in me. My actions are always being watched and followed. I can accept this role; it has helped me to become a better player, student, and person.”

Nathan Cass, a 5’11” 190-pound outfielder from Galion High School in Galion, Ohio, is our Male Athlete of the Day. Nathan carries a 3.07 GPA and plans to be a Criminal Justice major in college. His NSR scout, Ron Vrana, describes Nathan this way in his scouting report: “Dedicated, focused multi-sport athlete with a strong … Read more

[1
