Our Male Athlete of the Day is from Neuqua Valley High School<\/a> in Naperville, Illinois, Peter Catchings<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 He’s a senior, 6’3″ guard\u00a0with a 3.2 GPA with intentions of majoring in Sports Management.\u00a0 His team captured the 4A regional crown last season and Peter grabbed the 3-point contest championship.\u00a0 In describing Peter’s versatility, NSR Chicagoland AD Andrew Novelli <\/a>says, “Lock-down defender who guards the opposing team’s best player. Willing to defend all positions. Has great hands. Moves feet extremely well and stays in front. Very good athlete. Great 3-point shooter. Range extends well behind the arc. Can catch and shoot or shoot off the dribble. Diverse – can play the point and distribute when needed. Can create his own shot and will take it to the basket.”\u00a0 Speaking directly to college coaches in his essay, Peter exclaims, “I attempt to make every aspect of my game as crisp as possible. As I work on the court, I work equally as hard in the classroom. I study hard for quizzes or tests, and when material is not making sense, I have no problem asking questions for clarification. I will go the extra mile to make sure that the work that I am submitting is exemplary. Being part of a basketball team has also enhanced my ability to communicate with others efficiently. Because I am a point guard, it is essential for me to be a vocal leader on the court.
