Our NSR<\/strong> Male Athlete of the Day is a 6’4″, 285-pound lineman from Franklin High School in Franklin, North Carolina, Thomas Evans<\/a><\/strong>, who carries an impressive 3.8 GPA.\u00a0 This true student-athlete led his team to an undefeated regular season and was named Conference Defensive Player of the Year and to the North Carolina High School All-State Team.\u00a0 A track star as well, Thomas captured the\u00a0conference regional title in the shot put\u00a0and placed and took third place in the NCHSAA state meet.\u00a0 His head football coach, Josh Brooks, had this to stay about Thomas:\u00a0 “On and off the court, he is dependable, organized, hardworking, and exhibits a high level of positive enthusiasm toward his work.\u00a0\u00a0 Thomas has worked extrememly hard in the weight room since entering high school, and has been very successful on the football field, playing basketball, and throwing the shot and discus in track. His footwork and agility have greatly improved, and have made him a standout lineman and basketball player.\u00a0 His aggressive style of play, toughness, footwork, and willingness to work and improve make his future bright.\u00a0 For the three years I have known him, I have seen him sacrifice his personal wants to make sure those around him might benefit. Thomas is highly competive and strives to do the best he can at everything he is involved in.
