The Next Few Weeks Will Provide Answers to Shaky Questions Across the BCS Board<\/strong><\/p>\n

The UA-LSU battle in two weeks will put the winner in the driver's seat for a BCS title sprint.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

All the hype surrounding the upcoming Alabama-LSU\u00a0matchup\u00a0is legitimate.\u00a0 It will be the first ever\u00a01 versus 2 head-to-head clash between SEC football programs in the regular season, at least at this late stage of the season.\u00a0 So, that alone makes the game noteworthy.\u00a0 Add the untimely loss last weekend by Big 12 power and pre-season #1 Oklahoma and Wisconsin’s Hail Sparty shocker in East Lansing and you’ve got yourself a\u00a0helluva head knocker on tap.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It’s all set up for a clash of the\u00a0titans for sure, but lurking in the background are two teams which could benefit most from the pounding the super programs are laying on one another —\u00a0Boise State and Clemson.\u00a0\u00a0Lurking just under the radar screen,\u00a0with\u00a0either LSU or Bama obviously going down, then the\u00a0high probability of an Oklahoma State defeat at the hands of a vengeful Sooner squad and then with the\u00a0Tiger-Tide\u00a0winner potentially dropping the SEC\u00a0title\u00a0game later in the year and suddenly Boise State and Clemson are\u00a0looking good.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Of course, Clemson has to skirt a number of tough ones to\u00a0get there, unlike the easier ride the Broncos will\u00a0face.\u00a0 Clemson’s Tigers will have to get by\u00a0a suddenly underachieving Georgia Tech and then overcome\u00a0the totally unpredictable Ol’ Ball Coach’s Gamecock Gang, but it’s there for the taking if they can muster up the courage to bang through unscathed.\u00a0 Boise, well, they have TCU and\u00a0their last year’s nemesis Nevada left to beat.\u00a0 With\u00a0our Heisman favorite Kellen Moore, whose\u00a0countenance is\u00a0akin to Roger Moore’s portrayal\u00a0of James Bond 007, at the helm of a potent BSU offense, there’s\u00a0no good reason to think\u00a0that the Broncs will hiccup along the way.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the end, it will probably be Alabama and Boise State in the\u00a0BCS championship.\u00a0\u00a0People and pundits\u00a0have conveniently forgotten the 463 yards through the air the Bengals\u00a0yielded to an only okay West\u00a0Virginia team.\u00a0 That stat alone should make\u00a0someone with some\u00a0football knowledge shriek, but it hasn’t happened.\u00a0 No, Alabama will not throw the ball that much,\u00a0but you can bet that Saban and\u00a0his crew are pouring over the Mountaineer video\u00a0and will exploit any pass-related LSU weaknesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
