{"id":469,"date":"2010-06-07T12:47:37","date_gmt":"2010-06-07T18:47:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/?p=469"},"modified":"2010-06-07T12:47:37","modified_gmt":"2010-06-07T18:47:37","slug":"stay-summer-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/stay-summer-safe\/","title":{"rendered":"Stay &#8220;Summer Safe&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Summers Filled with Potential Life-changing Options<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/teenage-friends-41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-474\" title=\"teenage-friends-4\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/teenage-friends-41-300x275.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/teenage-friends-4.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/teenage-friends.jpg\"><\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Congratulations!\u00a0 You have made it through another tough school year.\u00a0 As giddy as you may be about getting out of school for summer vacation, don\u2019t allow your excitement to get the best of you, or keep you from making good decisions.\u00a0 The next three months can be fun and exciting, yes, but they will also offer you a myriad of opportunities, good and bad.\u00a0Your future and your life could be in the balance of what may appear to be simple, non-threatening circumstances.\u00a0\u00a0 In many situations, you will be the judge of what action you should take.\u00a0 Peer pressure should <em>always<\/em> be the least of your worries.\u00a0 Take care of yourself regardless of how much influence even\u00a0your best\u00a0friends may try to have over you.\u00a0 Here are some things to keep in mind:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Avoid riding with careless or impaired drivers.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Always swim with a partner beside you in the water.<\/li>\n<li>If you are in a boat, wear a life vest.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Apply ample sunscreen each time you are exposed to the sun for extended periods.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Stay off the phone while driving.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>NEVER text while driving any type of vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Wear shoes at all times.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid diving into water when you cannot see below the surface.<\/li>\n<li>When driving, take seriously the responsibility for yourself and those riding with you.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t\u00a0make or accept dares which are\u00a0meant to embarrass, or could possibly\u00a0hurt, you or someone else.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid alcohol and\u00a0drugs and stay clear of &#8220;friends&#8221; who choose to go down that path. \u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Pay close attention to what is going on around you, especially when in strange places.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Call your parents if you fear that you could be in harm\u2019s way or if no one in the crowd can legally operate a vehicle.\u00a0 They may\u00a0get upset, but they will get over it.\u00a0 They will never get over your being hurt or fatally injured in an accident.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One small miscue could change your life.\u00a0 Make the very best choices even if\u00a0doing so\u00a0means making you unpopular in the short term.\u00a0 You will not regret making the mature calls in tough circumstances.\u00a0 That&#8217;s what growing up is all about &#8212;
