{"id":4592,"date":"2011-08-18T04:37:17","date_gmt":"2011-08-18T10:37:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/\/?p=4592"},"modified":"2011-08-18T04:37:17","modified_gmt":"2011-08-18T10:37:17","slug":"ous-landry-jones-surprisingly-named-college-footballs-26th-best-by-rivals-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsr-inc.com\/scouting-news\/ous-landry-jones-surprisingly-named-college-footballs-26th-best-by-rivals-com\/","title":{"rendered":"OU&#8217;s Landry Jones (Surprisingly) Named College Football&#8217;s 26th Best by Rivals.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Curious Ranking for Heisman Contender<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4593\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4593\" style=\"width: 590px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Landry-Jones-41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4593\" title=\"Landry Jones 4\" src=\"\/\/blog.nsr-inc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Landry-Jones-41.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"550\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Landry&#39;s #26 ranking by Rivals.com was a shock to many who think he rates far higher.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rivals.com has come out with their Top 100 college football players for 2011.\u00a0 Perhaps the most surprising ranking so far\u00a0in their countdown to #1 is that of former NSR prospect and Oklahoma Sooner QB, Landry Jones, at number 26.\u00a0 A consensus Heisman Trophy candidate, Landry put up gaudy numbers last season (below) as the Sooners went 12-2, 6-2 in the always tough Big 12 Conference.\u00a0 The New Mexico native was under a great deal of scrutiny in 2010 as he followed former Heisman recipient Sam Bradford, now the starting signal caller for the St. Louis Rams.\u00a0 But\u00a0on the heels of a record\u00a0bowl performance his\u00a0freshman year in relief of\u00a0the injured Bradford, Landry came out of the shoot slinging and\u00a0was seldom\u00a0stymied in\u00a0OU Head Coach Bob Stoops explosive offense.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what Rivals had to say about Landry in their mini-bio:\u00a0 &#8220;Few programs replace one Heisman winner with another, but OU might. \u00a0Jones, the successor to &#8217;08 Heisman recipient Sam Bradford, has developed into a strong candidate. He enters his third season as a starter coming off a remarkable 2010 campaign in which he passed for nearly 4,800 yards and 30 touchdowns, while completing better than 65 percent of his attempts.
