Money’s Tight and Coaches Are Scrambling…Advantage Prospect\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

So, you might wonder aloud, \u201cWhat does a college’s financial\u00a0problems have to do with how I approach shooting a skill tape?\u201d\u00a0 Good question.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unless you\u2019ve been glued to the Animal History Entertainment Channel for five years, you know that video footage is a must in today\u2019s recruiting environment.\u00a0 But, did you know that it is even more so today than at any previous time.\u00a0 \u201cWhy?\u201d you ask.\u00a0 Money.\u00a0 What\u2019s new, right?\u00a0<\/p>\n

As we speak, college administrators across the country are looking into every nook and cranny, under every rock, and into any dark hole they find in an attempt to uncover ways to save money.\u00a0 Cutting the recruiting budgets of coaching staffs has made its way to the top of the \u201chit list.\u201d\u00a0 From a practical perspective, there are only so many ways one can squeeze another mile out of a gallon of gas or an athlete\u2019s meal from a shrinking dollar.\u00a0 But, it has to be done, somehow.\u00a0 To coaches, the term \u201cvalue meals\u201d is taking on a whole new and serious meaning.\u00a0<\/p>\n

All this belt tightening leaves coaches with the very tough and unsavory decision of choosing the tournaments to skip, which they would normally attend, to save a hundred or so dollars.\u00a0 Overnight stays and dinners at Carrabba\u2019s are giving way to day trips and Burger King.\u00a0 Plain and simple: Coaches are scrambling to find more efficient ways of spending, or saving, what recruiting dollars they have left.\u00a0 Over two thirds of America\u2019s colleges share this dilemma.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One method which coaches are almost universally depending more and more on is the use of video footage (skill and\/or game) to make evaluations and even scholarship offers\u2026without actually seeing prospects play in person.\u00a0 That\u2019s a risky choice to be sure, but there are few alternatives available to them.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
